Christine recently moved to New Bern in Dec 2018. She lived in Ohio for most of her life, spending the last 18 years living right on Lake Erie. Chris retired in 2017 after a career in Nursing. She has traveled to many areas in the world, always taking her watercolor supplies with her.
Chris became interested in pursuing Watercolor in the early 90s and her journey began with Plein Air painting with friends. She loved being outside even with the challenges of painting watercolor outside. Over the years, Chris has studied watercolor under Barney Cole and other workshops. In addition to Watercolor, she enjoys exploring creativity in mixed media using driftwood and various beach materials such as shells, driftwood, beach glass, tiles, acrylics and wire. Recently she has begun to study oil painting with a local artist. When she moved here in December with her husband, Rick, they were looking for an adventure, as they had been only married 10 years. The coast of NC was their draw as she loves painting seascapes and the coastal wildlife. Once they discovered New Bern and the great community of artists as well as the culture, they found a home here. In recent past years, Chris has done a “Studio Show” in her home studio in Ohio. She immediately signed up for the Neuse River Studio tour this year. She became a member of the CAGS gallery in July, and is enjoying the great group of artists there. She also joined the Coastal Plein Air group. She is a member of the Twin Rivers Artists’ Association. |
