An engineer by training, Jim has been doing carpentry and woodworking informally for as long as he can remember.
Whether it was a big project like building his home in Vermont, or making gifts for friends and family, he has long enjoyed the simple act of creating something of quality, that was visually appealing. Most recently, Jim was Executive Director of The Children’s Museum of Wilmington for four years, leaving that role in October 2020 to relocate to New Bern. While at the Museum Jim exercised his passion for creativity by personally designing, building and installing numerous exhibits targeted at helping young children ‘play to learn.’ Wood has always been Jim’s preferred medium. The problem solving and creativity required to work with rough cut or live edge wood, especially as it evolves through the finishing process, is perfect for the ‘engineering brain.’ Once Jim has the business stable and established within the community, he plans to commit a portion of his proceeds to local non-profits focused on serving children’s needs. |
