A native New Englander, Heidi L. White-DiBella now calls New Bern her home. She enjoys several mediums—from Chinese brush painting and watercolor, to alcohol inks and mixed media—in styles from realism to abstract, and her style continues to evolve.
A graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island, she didn't discover art until she moved to Maine, where she studied with accomplished artists: watercolor artist Vertene Carter and world-renowned sculptor Joseph Query. Her work is in private collections across the country, and has won awards in many exhibitions, including the Maine Coast Competition Art Show; Watercolor Society of North Carolina; Touch of Class Show, Havelock; Eastern North Carolina Rose Society Show; and the Twin Rivers Members Show, New Bern. In North Carolina, she studied with artist Linda Hastings, and has taken workshops with many other talented artist-teachers. She’s been a member of Twin Rivers Art Association, Greenville Brushstrokes, and the Watercolor Society of North Carolina. She is currently Gallery Director at Community Artists Gallery & Studios. “All my life I’ve loved animals, nature & the great outdoors,” Heidi says. “God has blessed us with the most beautiful place to live! My inspiration comes from His creations & painting was a way to capture that beauty. My passion is for animals, especially horses. I like to blend the paint directly on the paper to get a variety of colors. I paint loose, showing movement and flow in my work. As I work, I allow the flow of the paint to takeover & see what develops.” |
