Leah Simard is a military spouse who has spent the past 12 years living all over the country, but having grown up in New Hampshire, she is still a New England girl at heart. You will find a lot of her New England roots represented in her ceramic artwork, ranging from coastal New England icons, to the rich colors of a New Hampshire fall season.
Leah graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor’s degree in visual communications and studio art. After college she spent time working as a wedding photographer for a renowned NH photography studio, but always gravitated towards ceramics and it’s creative process as well as the desire to share that creative process with others through both her own artwork and holding classes to teach others. That desire led to the birth of her mobile art studio, Muddy Moose Pottery. The “moose” in Muddy Moose Pottery pays homage to her New England roots and the business fulfills three needs. A need for a creative outlet, a need for a mobile business while traveling the country as a military spouse, and a need to share the magic of art with others. Leah has taught art classes to children and adults in various states across the U.S. focusing on ceramic painting techniques and clay hand-building. Leah’s artwork has been exhibited in New Hampshire, Nebraska, and North Carolina. She currently lives in North Carolina and can often be found either in her home studio creating new ceramic pieces, or out in town teaching art classes to the community! You can find her artwork online or sign up for a class at www.muddymoosepottery.com. |
